This is new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 “breaks” them as the most powerful American V8 engine of all time sits under the hood.
It carries a power unit 5.5 liter, V8 twin turbo with 1187 horsepower, capable of “screaming” up to 8000 rpm. and accelerates to 346 km/h.
That’s a marked improvement over the 680-horsepower Corvette Z06 powered by the same engine.

From forged pistons to the availability of a new drive shaft as well as a lower compression ratio.
With a wild torque of 1123 Nm which unleashes the thoroughbred to the rear wheels only through an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The turbines are made from a special alloy called MAR, which Chevrolet says allows for better performance than Inconel, which is also used in Formula 1 cars.
The suspension has been tuned for this new model, while the ZTK aerodynamic package is capable of producing up to 544kg of downforce at high speeds.
The mechanical changes haven’t changed the weight much, the Chevrolet weighs 1,665kg (1,705kg for the Cabrio version), less than the BMW M2 and a better weight-to-power ratio than the Bugatti Veyron.
Chevrolet equips the Corvette ZR1 with a new high-performance brake system with 400 mm diameter ceramic discs. for front and 390 mm. for back.
The new ZR1 follows a number of innovations in aesthetics and interior.
The most powerful Corvette in history has a special cover for the rear hood.
There’s a carbon fiber roof, new alloy wheel styles (in four colors, including Edge Blue) in carbon fiber, and the inevitable “ZR1” badging in the passenger compartment.
